Ripoff Head Paintings

Corel Painter. Based on an image by Paul Bonner. These are the results of me trying to learn to paint. I copied these to learn how. Also, I have to thank Ryan Wood for showing me some great techniques in Painter! Sam, I wish I'd have listened sooner. This image was MUCH faster than images I painted in Photoshop.
Oil on board. Based on an image by Burt Silverman. Obviously, Burt did it much better, but I learned a ton about color. I did this one while I was taking Bob Barrett's head painting class at BYU.

Head Paintings

Head Paintings from Bob Barrett's class. This class was unbelievably helpful! I highly recommend Bob to anybody. This was my first ever real media painting class.

Dinosaur Museum!

So, I can't believe I've never gone to the Dinosaur Museum at Thanksgiving point. Turns out, it's the biggest Dino Museum in the world! Here's some sketches from my visit. I'm not done yet, though. I'll have to go back, and I don't care if it's just me and all the moms with little kids! There were too many dinos to draw all at once!

These are for my group's senior film. Dreamworks people told me I needed more prop designs in my portfolio...

Attack from Kronak

These are from my final in Ryan Woodward's Character Design class.

Brothers!

by Charles and Brian Kohrman. Ink on index card. 2008.
A collaborative work by two artistic geniuses.

Save the Baby!

This was my final project for Sam's digital painting class.  I was trying to convey a strong story point in a single image, and I was trying for a Disney type style.
